How Etsy Fees Work
Etsy Fee Breakdown
Every Etsy sale involves multiple fees. Understanding each one helps you price your items for profit.
Listing Fee — $0.20
Charged when you create or renew a listing. Listings expire after 4 months and auto-renew. Multi-quantity listings charge $0.20 per unit sold. This is the smallest fee but adds up for high-volume sellers.
Transaction Fee — 6.5%
Etsy’s main selling fee. Charged on the total order amount including the item price and shipping charged to the buyer. This is Etsy’s primary revenue source from sellers.
Payment Processing — 3% + $0.25
If you use Etsy Payments (required in most countries), this covers credit card and payment processing. Calculated on the total sale amount. Similar to what you’d pay with Stripe or PayPal.
Offsite Ads — 15% (optional)
Etsy advertises your listings on Google, Facebook, and other platforms. If a buyer clicks an ad and purchases within 30 days, a 15% fee applies (12% for sellers with $10K+ annual revenue). Sellers under $10K/year can opt out.
Total Fee Impact
Without offsite ads, expect to pay roughly 10–12% in total fees. With offsite ads on a sale, total fees can reach 25–27%. Factor these into your pricing strategy to maintain healthy margins.
